West Palm Beach Man Sentenced to Life for 2020 Fentanyl-Cocaine Overdose Death

A West Palm Beach man will spend the rest of his life in prison after a jury found him responsible for a woman’s drug overdose death.

Jahvon McFarlane, 40, was sentenced Thursday in Indian River County following his conviction for unlawful distribution of fentanyl or cocaine causing death.

Court records show McFarlane provided the drugs that led to the death of Yanella Figueroa between May 8 and 9, 2020. Figueroa was found dead in her home on May 9, and the medical examiner determined her death resulted from acute fentanyl and cocaine intoxication.

Authorities confirmed that McFarlane supplied the fatal substances, leading to his life sentence.
