A man has been charged with first-degree murder and multiple additional felonies following the fatal stabbing of his ex-wife Tuesday afternoon in Oswego, police said.
According to the Oswego Police Department, 44-year-old Ryan Dodd of Aurora faces charges including first-degree murder, home invasion, armed violence, residential burglary and aggravated stalking.
Authorities were called to a home in the 400 block of Valentine Way shortly after 1 p.m. after a man reported seeing someone chase his wife into their garage via a home surveillance system. The caller told police he believed the suspect was his wife’s ex-husband.
Officers arrived and found the woman inside the home with stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police quickly located a vehicle matching the suspect description about 30 minutes later near Harvey Road and Hathaway Lane. A traffic stop was conducted near Rance Road and Pioneer Court, and Dodd was taken into custody.
Investigators said preliminary findings indicate Dodd followed the woman into the garage and attacked her with a knife.
Dodd is being held in the Kendall County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
