A motorcyclist died following a hit-and-run crash Saturday night in southwest Bakersfield, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
Officers responded to the crash in the 4500 block of Ming Avenue around 10:44 p.m. on Jan. 31, 2026.
When they arrived, they found a male motorcyclist suffering from injuries initially reported as non-life-threatening. The vehicle involved, described as a white sedan, had left the scene before officers arrived.
A preliminary investigation indicated the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Ming Avenue when the sedan made an unsafe turn, causing the collision.
Police said they contacted a woman believed to be the driver of the sedan around 1:30 a.m. on Feb. 1, 2026. The investigation is ongoing to confirm her involvement.
The motorcyclist was hospitalized and later died Sunday morning. The Kern County Coroner will release his identity at a later date.
