Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy in North Hills in what authorities believe may be a gang-related attack.
Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department responded to reports of gunfire around 8:15 p.m. Monday in the 8700 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard near Parthenia Street. When officers arrived, they found the teen suffering from gunshot wounds outside a pawn shop, according to an LAPD spokesperson.
Investigators said officers determined there were two related shootings involving several juvenile males. During one of the incidents, two suspects arrived in a vehicle and opened fire, striking the victim.
Paramedics transported the teen to Northridge Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. His identity has not been released.
No detailed suspect descriptions were immediately available. The LAPD’s Valley Bureau Homicide Division is leading the investigation.
